After a 1-year hiatus, the Write for Kindness competition is back with the participation of 11 secondary schools and 1 junior college. Students poured their creative juices into creating a children’s storybook on the theme, Pay it Forward.
Prior to receiving their award at the Friend of Singa Awards Ceremony on 11 November 2016, the champion team from Yuhua Secondary School debuted their story, Nido and the Ants, at a storytelling session by Kamini Ramachandran from Moonshadow Stories, as part of the fringe programme of the Singapore Writer’s Festival (SWF).
This idea of showcasing the winning story on a national platform like SWF is one of the many initiatives that SKM has taken to inspire young readers with kindness. It is also a great exposure for the winning students as we honour their effort in writing and illustrating from the heart.
The book, Nido and the Ants, will be published and distributed to pre-schools here.
The workshops for Write For Kindness 2017 will be held in March 2017. For more information, click here.
