Appreciating The Person Who Appreciates Us

When I travel, I usually leave a “Thank You” note and some chocolates in my hotel room to thank the cleaner for cleaning my room. It always makes me happy to return to my room in the evening and see that the cleaner has taken the chocolates that I have left for them; sometimes they would also take the “Thank You” note too and that makes me happier.

In my recent travelling to Jakarta few weeks ago, I did the same. One evening when I came back from work, I saw a “You R Welcome” note in my hotel room. I was overjoyed by the gracious appreciation by the cleaner.

This encounter not only affirmed me that it is right to show our appreciation for others; it also taught me that by appreciating the person who appreciates us can make a difference for them too.
