On World Kindness Day, we celebrate kindness. Countries like Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom will mark this special day with their own unique spin.

The team behind Kindness Day UK will be starting a ‘Textwave of Kindness’. How do you participate? Simply join in this ‘wave’ by texting a kind act that you have witnessed, a favourite quotation about kindness, or a message thanking someone kind in your life.

Canada will be rocking the day with a World Kindness Concert, bringing big names and up-and-coming artists together to perform and promote the message of kindness, courtesy and compassion. About 1,800 people are expected to attend this concert to be held at the Centre For Performing Arts in Vancouver.

And down under, Australia will celebrate the day by giving out the ‘2012 Cool To Be Kind Awards’ to kind neighbours, members of community groups, business owners, and students. You can also join in ‘The Big Hug’ which takes the concept of giving free hugs to a larger audience! Lifeguards, students, parents, teachers and staff from various organisations will be going around Bondi Beach to give hugs to random strangers. Now that’s a sure-fire way to bring a smile to everyone’s faces!
