SKM was honoured for its outstanding brand initiative, winning the Singapore Prestige Brand Award (SPBA) in December 09. SKM won in the category of Special Merit Brand, which recognised government agencies and not-for-profit organisations that have been established for at least three years.

Mr Koh Poh Tiong, chairman of SKM council, said he was thankful for the award. He added that this award helped affirm that SKM was being recognised, both in name and in deed.
SPBA was jointly organised by Association of Small Medium Enterprises and Lianhe ZaoBao.
