Schools Spearhead Kindness in 2012

Welcome to a new school year!
To better support the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) focus on a values-centric education, SKM will be rolling out a series of activities and programmes for both primary and secondary schools. These will complement MOE’s curricula, and help spread the values of kindness and graciousness among schools.
A doodle journal for secondary school students, the ‘Let Kindness Bloom’ programme where schools grow and tend for the new hybrid Kindness Orchid, and a quarterly newsletter that imparts important values to primary school students, are among the new programmes to be rolled out in 2012.
Effective and impactful existing programmes such as the Kindness Cheer-O-Mania competition and primary schools’ awards cards remain on the calendar, while the Friend of Singa (FOS) initiative continues to be the cornerstone in SKM’s school programmes.
SKM first introduced its school programmes at the Character and Citizenship Education Conference held on 8 and 9 Nov 2011 at Nanyang Auditorium. It was attended by some 1,200 educators, and proved to be a good platform for SKM to interact with teachers and principals looking for new ways to enforce key values among their students.
If you are an educator from a primary and secondary school, and would like to find out more about these programmes, please contact us at kindness@kindness.sg.
