Singa brought festive cheer to shoppers at Tampines 1 shopping mall on 4 and 5 Dec 2011. On both days, he took photographs with fans and reminded all shoppers to be kind and gracious during the holidays.

Secret ambassadors specially appointed from Tampines 1 also kept an eye out for shoppers who displayed kind acts, and those ‘caught’ were given a surprise gift. In addition, to remind shoppers to be kind and considerate during the busy shopping season, the mall also filled its premises with messages to encourage them to show basic courtesy.

Shopper Ms Alice Bhua, 26, was rewarded with a $35 voucher after she thanked the mascot Singa for taking photographs with her and her family. She said, “This is a nice gesture. I am surprised to be rewarded with a voucher for just saying ‘Thank you’. It is a great reminder that we should always be gracious and give thanks.”

Associate General Secretary of SKM, Mr Cesar Balota said, “We were very pleasantly surprised when Tampines 1 approached us to put a kindness twist to their Christmas activities at the mall, encouraging shoppers to be considerate, charitable and gracious.”

He added, “As a Movement, we are very supportive of Tampines 1 and AsiaMalls Management for taking initiative and ownership in spreading the kindness message.”

Singa will continue to make mall appearances this year. Please check our website for an updated schedule in the coming weeks.
